Test 4 - Technique I to establish CPB

 

15th May 2013 - Portable Prototype of IHLM

 
  • Using 2.5 Litres of venous blood and a calculated amount of H2O2 to be fed in the "HALS".
  • 12 Volt DC Atwood Diaphragm Pump, one 6V battery.
  • Another Prototype of "HALS" with inclusion of two 1-inch Sponge Cylinders.
  • No ABG measurements were possible (I-Stat 1 ABG machine was out of order when needed).
 

Results

  • Technical problems arose in the initiation phase of the "CPB". The experiment had to be stopped
    and the 2 sponge cylinders were removed.
  • The experiment was restarted with :
    • Perfusion Pressure of only 30 mmHg instead of 50 mmHg
    • There is a Pressure Drop of about 15 mmHg, from 45 mmHg to 30 mmHg,
      (from VT2 to VT1 to the Perfusion Pressure Tubing)
    • Confirmation of the possibility of delivering very easily 70ml H2O2 (700ml O2) over 5 minutes
      of Circulation Phase to pay for O2 debt of 700ml O2 in the previous TCA's Periods at various
      temperatures
    • Considering the unusually bright red blood at the end of the experiment, probably a small
      excess of H2O2 has been used resulting in an 'over oxygenation' of the venous blood most
      probably to the patient's advantage

    The reason that I obtained much better results than other medical practitioners is that I have taken into consideration 2 most important aspects of the pathophysiologies of these diseases.
